National Gymnastics Day: September 21, 2024
In light of recent events, I would like to discuss National Gymnastics Day which is celebrated across the U.S. by many clubs, organizations and athletes. The day is recognized annually on the third Saturday of September. This year it was celebrated on Sept. 21.
Clubs and organizations celebrate this event by hosting open gyms and providing recreational classes for a low-cost generating positive attitudes and behavior towards those businesses. Online celebrations are also a huge part of this day, especially with the rise of social media. Athletes are invited to share their tricks, flips and love for the sport online accompanying the hashtag #NGD2024 and tagging the official USA Gymnastics account for a chance to be featured on their platform.
Something USAG did differently this year to celebrate was ask clubs around the country to enter a contest on how they celebrated this very special day. By partnering with GK Elite (which is where gymnasts usually get materials such as leotards, warm-ups, etc.) clubs created their own social media content and were ask to post on platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, TikTok and Twitter (X) with the official hashtag: #NGD2024 and by tagging @gkelite. Winners would receive a shopping spree provided by the GK Elite Team!
Although there is a lot of promotion and awareness generated within this campaign, its core is about the love of the sport and the people that make it so special.
Although this blog is centered around the sport of gymnastics, I would like to know what sports you guys are in and if you are not actively participating one, which ones do you have a lot of interest in? What's your favorite part about it and why? Let me know!
