Due to the recent events of Hurricane Helene and Hurricane Milton having a direct course on the east coast, many communities and organizations have been impacted by these weather events, leaving almost $47 billion in damages.  I feel it's important to talk about the devastation these communities have encountered by not only Helene but just several days later, Milton as well.  The link here  by the Tampa Bay Times shows the sheer damage that the hurricanes have made.

Although the hurricanes have created much to be devastated about, it shows how strong the effected communities are.  There are many relief organizations such as the Red Cross that have come to support those who need it as well as local groups coming together.  Across the Tampa Bay Area are organizations and private charities such as Operation BBQ Relief giving away free meals for those who need it along with locations in several counties.  Specifics on locations can be seen here.

I also want to discuss how social media has impacted and increased awareness for situations such as hurricanes and hurricane relief.  Through social media we get not only content from organizations and brands but stories shared by real people impacted by the event.  We get to see the raw footage and stories that are told by the people the event happened to making it feel more real to those that live outside the event, or in this case Hurricane Helene and Hurricane Milton.  To be part of that movement, I would like to use this platform as a way to spread awareness and become part of the solution.

To donate to hurricane relief you can visit American Red Cross website.
